Dr. Baban earned his Ph.D. degree in Medical Bacteriology from the University of London, United Kingdom. He pursued his postdoctoral training in Molecular Immunology at the GHSU. During that time, he earned an MBA degree from Augusta State University. Dr. Baban’s research interests relate to responses of the human host to pathogen with special interest in inflammation, immunoregulation and tolerance. His vision research centers on inflammatory reactions and its relation to eye diseases, particularly diabetic retinopathy. Dr. Baban has been collaborating with Dr. Ruth Caldwell and her group on assessing retinal inflammatory reactions, specifically endotoxin (LPS)-induced uveitis and its correlation with arginase activity as well as its impacts on immune cells.
