Background & Research Emphasis:
Dr. Thomas earned his undergraduate degree from Lehigh University and completed his MD degree at the Medical College of Pennsylvania. He completed his residency training in Ophthalmology at Rhode Island Hospital/Brown University Dr. Thomas completed fellowship level training in oculoplastic & orbital surgery, as well as neuro-ophthalmology at the W.K. Kellogg Eye Center at the University of Michigan. He gained additional exposure to cosmetic facial plastic surgery with Dr. Robert Flowers at Aesthetic Plastic Surgery of the Pacific in Honolulu, Hawaii. He is the only subspecialty trained oculoplastic surgeon in the surrounding region. Dr. Thomas' subspecialty practice focuses on diseases involving the eyelid, orbit and lacrimal system caused by tumors, trauma, neurologic or age-related changes. He also provides skilled management and treatment of patients with lacrimal system disease, orbital fractures or prosthetic eyes. He also has an interest and experience in aesthetic eyelid and facial surgery, including botulinum toxin, facial fillers, endoscopic brow and mid-facial surgery, and laser skin resurfacing. He has been named one of "America's Top Ophthalmologists" and to the "Best Doctor's" list multiple times. Dr. Thomas’s expertise as a neuroophthalmologist is relevant to activities of VDI members who have an interest in visual rehabilitation. ~
